After knocking out 2 more great runs in both his Formula Xtreme and Supersport races, Josh Hayes is getting closer to a repeat championship in Formula Xtreme and becoming a title contender for Supersport. This season is definitely a great one especially with the new redesigned 2007 Honda CBR600RR.

Here’s some pictures from AMASuperbike.com

Had some fun taking photos of Saravy & Chad at the beach. Very challenging to say the least with time not in our favor. I managed to snap a few that I think are “decent”. Hopefully the next shoot will yield a greater # of usable shots.

Found this to be my addiction for today. No more worrying about your punk siblings bumping you while you’re drawing! Here’s something I drew up real quick, more to come later! Cool

Went out with Jen, Saravy & Chad for another photoshoot at Corona Del Mar last night, another great learning experience! After that, we went down the street to Avila’s El Ranchito Mexican Restaurant. Nice place, pretty big portions, fast & friendly service, recommended to all! [/eBay Feedback]

Spent the weekend helping Jen setup for this party as well as being able to be the photographer for the event. Well, the pictures show that I still have much to learn, but this was a great learning experience! Congratulations to Saravy & Chad for taking the next step and getting ready to tie the knot!

How to: Remove swirls from your paint
icon1 Tony | icon2 Uncategorized | icon4 08 1st, 2007| icon35 Comments »

So I attended a Meguair’s detail day last weekend. Here’s a quick run down on how to remove swirls from your paint.

Materials Needed:
-Microfiber
-Applicator Pads
-Clay Bar system

If using some good ole’ elbow grease, it will be a 3-part step after you clay your vehicle:
1) Meguiar’s Scratch X
2) Meguiar’s Deep Crystal Polisher
3) Meguiar’s NXT Tech Wax (choose the wax of your choice, NXT is a great wax, easy to use with great results) - Remember, thin coats of wax, not blobs!

If using a dual action polishing machine, Meguiar’s G100, please use the following:
1) Depending of severity of the scratches/swirls, you can use #80 or #83 polish. (#83 being the harsher of the 2)
2) Meguiar’s NXT Tech Wax (again, same as above)

Temperature of black paint on a hot day is a scorching 149 degree’s! Please remember to do all your detailing on a cool surface.

Here’s a before shot of the test vehicle we worked on:

Flatten out your claybar like below, Mike Phillips of Meguiar’s pictured…awesome instructor…

This light gun here works great and is not forgiving on your paint finish. It will show all surface imperfections.
Test spot

When starting with the ScratchX by hand, put some elbow grease into it!
ScratchX

Repeat the above with product #2, Crystal Polish, and finish off with #3, NXT Tech Wax.

Remember to use a different applicator pad for each type of liquid, do not mix the bottles on the same pad!

Using a machine is the obvious faster & easier job. It will undoubtedly yield better results everytime. Consistant pressure is the key! Apply the polish around the outer edge of the polishing pad.
#80

Here are the 2 test spots on the hood of an ES300. Both are done and waiting for the wax to dry. Be sure to use thin coats of wax because a nice blob (right side) will take a lot longer to dry.

Here are the 3 products for hand swirl removal:

Do a swipe test after you finish applying the wax to see if it is ready to be removed with your microfiber. If the surface is clean and crisp after the swipe, you are ready to remove. If it leaves streaks, let it dry some more.

And, the finished result…
Done

Left side was done using a machine, right side is with arm power. Hope you guys enjoyed and I’m available for full details if you’re too lazy to try for yourself! =)
