So I picked up a MagicJack after hearing so many praises from a few friends.  The unit costs $39.95 and that includes the 1st year of calls.  Each year thereafter is only $19.95!  All you need is a PC and broadband connection.  The setup was super easy, just plug in the card and it automatically downloads software and makes you register for your telephone # with the area code of your choice.

It’s been awhile since I’ve used a house phone, who still uses those anyways?  Even my parents have switched to cell phones only.  But, this is cheap enough to keep around @ $20 a year for unlimited calls!  Anyways, so I received a free phone from Robert that he got from his BOC (Bag-o-crap) from Woot.  It was a refurbished phone, but turned out to not work after replacing the unit with new batteries.

There seems to be new technology out for home phones that do not interfere with other wireless signals in your household.  The old technolgy was 5.8ghz, now there is DECT 6.0. I’ll be doing some research and picking up a DECT 6.0 handset in the near future.

On a side note, Happy Birthday to my cousin Tony from the Bay Area!  Hope you have a great birthday!  Don’t get too wasted…we gotta party again sometime soon!

Also, I was told from a friend (Baoser) that free slurpies are given out today at 7-11’s.  Simply walk into the store and say: “Happy 7-11 Day” and the clerk will give you a small slurpie!
